We are open Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 11am to 1pm.

What do you offer the community?

we provide:

  • Free coffee shop (tea, coffee, sandwiches, cake)
  • Free bread
  • Free food parcels to people in crisis (918 provided in 2013)
  • Clothing for $4, and you can fill a bag on Thursdays for $10.
  • Interpersonal support.
  • Free fruit and vegetables.
  • On Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, we provide free bread only at 11am.
  • No referral needed, just turn up with photo ID
  • An annual Christmas toy sale

Who visits the Mercy Centre?

Anyone in physical or relational need. This includes women and children escaping domestic violence, the homeless, refugees, pensioners, families who are under financial stress, people who are unemployed, people with a mental illness or intellectual impairment, the socially isolated; people on low incomes and many children.

What resources do you have?

We are staffed by a co-ordinator and up to 40 volunteers and are funded from a number of sources:

  • Grants
  • A once a year Thanksgiving Offering
  • "Sponsor a food parcel" program
  • Food drives in local business and community
  • Over 5000 loaves of bread and other bakery items donated per year from Jacobs Bakery Brendale and Aspley
  • OzHarvest
  • Sales of donated clothing

Are donations tax deductable?

Yes - all donations over $2 are tax deductable?
